Disappointing Stay with Hidden Charges and Poor Hospitality

Our experience at Villa Dalu was disappointing. When we arrived, no one was present at the property to greet us or assist with check-in. The villa was left open, but we were not informed that it was specifically for us. After an hour of confusion and struggle, other guests arrived, and we managed to get Carla’s contact number. She eventually arranged our check-in. There was no assistance provided for carrying luggage up the challenging staircase leading to the villa. Carla later offered help for €10 per bag and called a local boy to carry our luggage. While we were too exhausted to decline, the charge felt unreasonable. The breakfast provided was underwhelming—just a croissant, tea, and a piece of fruit. Additionally, we were unaware that the villa’s common areas, like the hall and kitchen, were shared with other guests. While we had a private room and bathroom, the shared spaces were not disclosed in our booking, which came as an unpleasant surprise. She also asked for a city tax, but when we checked our booking, it wasn’t mentioned. When I pointed this out and said we weren’t supposed to pay it, she simply said, “Okay, fine.” This felt a bit strange, as it seemed like she might have collected extra money under the guise of a tax that wasn’t even applicable, had we not verified it ourselves. Overall, the stay felt overpriced and lacking in basic hospitality. There are definitely better options available, and we wouldn’t recommend staying here.
