Villa Bentota was the perfect place to wind down at the end of our Sri Lanka trip. After a week across the country, staying at one of Geoffrey Bawa’s architectural gems felt like a privilege. The space is serene, the ambience deeply relaxing, and the artistic vision of Bawa is evident throughout. The food was excellent - every dish beautifully presented and delicious - and the drinks were just as delightful. A heartfelt thank you to the staff, who were exceptionally kind, attentive, and polite. Their warmth made our stay all the more memorable. If I had one suggestion, it would be directed toward the property’s management or ownership. There are a few areas that need attention - minor maintenance issues like worn-out taps or fixtures, and some unused corners of the property that could easily be revived to reflect the elegance of the rest of the villa. Bawa’s brilliance lies in the details, and fixing those would truly honour his legacy as well as make the life of the staff even more easier! The spa too could use some love - with more staffing or a more seamless booking process, it could be a real highlight. Currently, wait times due to external confirmations slightly reduce the experience. With just a little investment and attention to these details, Villa Bentota could effortlessly shift from a charming boutique experience to a true 5-star destination. That said, it’s still a gem - and we left feeling rested, inspired, and grateful.

Excellent location by the beach. Very friendly staff and great service. Food options are limited so dont expect a huge menu. But taste and quality is great. It's a boutique resort
