Overall the property was good. It was huge and the rooms were basic, clean but the overall property was less luxurious. The pools were great and the food was good. I believe staff can be more courteous in terms of providing room upgrades and late check out options if possible. I liked the pool, food, beach but cannot be compared to branded hotel chains like Radisson and ITC which provides even better services

From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm hospitality and refreshing welcome drinks. The check-in process was smooth and efficient, and we were personally escorted to our room, which had stunning views of the ocean. The rooms were spacious, tastefully decorated, and equipped with all modern amenities. Waking up to the sound of the waves and watching the sunrise from our private balcony was simply magical. The resort’s private beach was pristine and well-maintained, with plenty of lounge chairs and shaded areas. We spent our mornings enjoying the water and afternoons indulging in delicious drinks from the beachside café, which offered a great mix of local and international cuisine. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. Whether it was arranging water sports, recommending local attractions, or delivering room service late at night, they were always courteous and helpful. The Four pool area was another highlight — beautifully designed with a bar nearby, Overall, [Resort exceeded all expectations. It’s an ideal destination for couples, families, or solo travelers looking to relax and rejuvenate by the sea. I would gladly recommend this resort to anyone planning a beach vacation and look forward to returning soon!

We recently stayed at this hotel in Ahungalla. Though it’s a bit far from central Bentota, the beachfront location is excellent and peaceful — you really don’t need to step out for anything. The food is good overall. While vegetarian options are limited, it’s truly a delight for non-vegetarians. The liquor served is mostly local Sri Lankan brands — Lion beer and Eristoff vodka were available during our stay. The hotel has multiple swimming pools and beautiful open areas. Note that the main lobbies are not air-conditioned, so for a cooler environment, you’ll need to head to your room or the dining area. Also, the lobbies are quite slippery due to the flooring and moisture — do keep your footwear accordingly to avoid any mishaps. One downside is the moisture issue in rooms — as soon as you open the door, the floor becomes slippery and wet due to humidity. However, the room air conditioning is very strong (too cold at times, doesn’t go above 20°C), so we often had to switch it off while sleeping. The live band performances in the evenings are fantastic and create a great atmosphere, especially on Saturdays when it gets quite crowded. The beach right in front of the hotel is clean, quiet, and mostly used by hotel guests only. Room service could be more responsive, but one plus point — they gave us a complimentary one-hour late checkout, which we appreciated. Overall, it’s a beautiful beachfront property ideal for relaxation, with just a few areas needing improvement.

The food and hospitality were excellent. The only thing people should remember when traveling to the resort is that the beach is rough year-round and not good for swimming. But you will enjoy the resort and its hospitality.

Amazing property, completely all inclusive which makes it a unique experience. Direct access to a beautiful beach and has 4 absolutely beautiful swimming pools which are very clean and well organised. The rooms are spacious and clean. The junior suite with a sea view was amazing.

The property serves its 5-star facilities like it promises. Good food, all-inclusive services and great staff behaviour. However, i was 6 months pregnant when we travel-led and was denied dinner the first day we checked -in as we reached the restaurant 5min later to 10:00pm when the dinner service closes. They did not even arrange for ala-carte and even when we obliged to pay them additional to the all-inclusive package we had taken for the dinner that night. All their services and different restaurant timings are mentioned in their app and nothing was precisely mentioned during our check-in that day. A 5min miss and no dinner was gasping for us to even think that they denied food to a pregnant woman with no other option provided as they were only playing by the 'rule book' and ignored the humanitarian side of things. I would recommend this hotel but, it's very stringent with their service rules.

I had an amazing experience at riu srilanka, we loved the place and services, specially 24 by 7 all inclusive with food and drinks- amazing. Super clean rooms and hotel facilities, all 3 swimming pools were nicely taken cared and staffs were puts all their efforts for customer delight. I loved it and we decided next trip will be in riu hotels only.

Room ac cooling is excellent, beach is walkable distance from room, food is good, night live music band also so nice.

The hotel from a facility standpoint was pretty good except for the fact that as a tourist be careful while making the booking online as the hotel management seemed quite unprofessional. They charged us for all-inclusive package (including liquor) for both days of our stay but served liquor only on one day stating some go which was never communicated to us. Despite the fact that our booking voucher very clearly stated that all days of booking liquor will be served in an "all-inclusive package. The sad part being they charged two days of complete "all inclusive" costs despite not serving liquor on one day. On enquiring at the reception no one seemed to be bothered to give a reasonable response. They seem to have quite in experienced front office staff (keshan) who were not able to resolve the issue nor were they giving access to their so-called senior management. To this day my question of "why should i pay the cost of an all-inclusive package cost for a day when they didn't honor their commitment on both days" remains unresolved.

In short the location, the infrastructure and the view from the hotel is perfect. However riu lacks in 2-3 important points. First the food has nothing to offer for vegetarians, absolutely u will starve if u are a vegetarian. Second there are almost no activities for one’s entertainment in such a big place. I stayed for 2 nights in may 2024 and i was bored to death as the hotel doesn’t have any activity area besides a table tennis table. I was shocked to find out that there was no playing area no pool table nothing to keep the guests entertained. After 10 the place felt depressing to be honest.

Well maintained amenities including multiple swimming pools. This was our second visit to this property and would certainly look forward to visit again!
