Hotel Cacao is closed when we found out the location

We found out hotel with lot of efforts by Google map. Unfortunately the hotel is closed for last few months as confirmed by an old lady who is the owner of the adjacent house to hotel Cacao. We are surprised that we have paid fully through make my trip for a closed hotel.

Stayed at Cacao for a single night after landing at Colombo. Pros: very close to the Airport and the family was quick to respond and very helpful. The rooms were nice and big as was the bathroom. Breakfast was also as per what my daughter wanted- they made it right then. Offered us fresh passion fruit from the trees in their yard itself. Cons: found 3 cockroaches in the room which I had to chase away using a broom. Overall- great place for a stopover, especially if you're coming in by a late night flight or catching an early morning flight.

Although near the airport the hotel location is somewhat remote. The hotel reviews say they provide free airport pickup but its charged. Airport taxis were not ready to go to the location. Rooms are clean but do not give a hotel feel. Its a house converted into a hotel. Difficult to contact the hotel phone numbers.

Staying at Saffron Airport hotel is good if you call in advance and inform them to come and pick from airport. It's just 5 minutes towards left hand side of your exit from airport. Since I lost my way through GPS and landed paying more to Tuk Tuk by paying more than actual fare. The local cuisine breakfast serve is very much home made. It's open sitting arrangement attracts, lots of flies, which might not like to everyone. Since the stay is near airport, you may listen to flight take off and landing noise quite often. They do arrange local sightseeing of different cities, highly recommended.

Great option close to the airport

Great convenient option close to the airport. They have a pick-up service from the airport. Food options are limited but good quality. Good veg options as well. Breakfast only after 7.30 am so if leaving early, don't expect breakfast.

The location is near by airport. The place is like a guest house. The breakfast was not good. The room was OK. The staff were friendly. Anybody in transit for a night hault I will recommend.
