grindelwald is a small but beautiful village. the only public conveyance that is bus, stop working after 7 p.m. so, the hotels near to the bus/ train station should be the obvious choice. all the food joints and shopping area is also near to the station. we learned it the hard way, as our hotel gletchergarten was too far from bus station. and since there was only one taxi service in the town, and the person was too busy in handling too much guests, we end up waiting for taxi near Coop for more than 45 minutes and then we, finally, hiked towards our hotel, which again took another 45 minutes. overall on location I will give 5/10 2. view: the view was awesome and mesmerising. perhaps the advantage of distance from centre. no obstacle. only snow clad mountains to be seen from our balcony. 3. ambience was good. it was a heritage property maintained in too damn good shape. 4. service was good considering the limitations of manpower. no room service after 7 pm. no reception after 9.30. you have to enter in the hotel from the backdoor after that. but considering that you anyway will not have anything to do after 9 pm. that was okay. the food was awesome. one of the finest breakfast I have seen. the rooms were quite big. I mean really big. sparkling bathrooms with all the reasonable amenities.
