Booking got cancel-led since there were no rooms available

Booking got cancel-led since rooms were full. Person at reception was helpful and did recommend nearby stays etc. But this shouldn’t have happened in the first place since booking shouldn’t have been open to begin with incase it was full. We came with all our heavy bags to this place to know it was cancelled. Mm t nor the hotel sent any cancellation indication until i reached the place.
