The hotel is well located near the centre of the city next to the port, railway station and hassan 2 mosque. Our luxury room on the 10th floor had a good view but obstructions of half constructed buildings messed it up a bit. Possibly this may not be a problem from higher floors. The room furniture fixtures all looked a little worn and tired and had seen better times. The bathroom area floor tilings were extremely slippery after a mop, the hotel could not provide bath slippers as they had run out of stock. Room was not well stocked with tea coffee, bathroom supplies and after many requests and huge problems with translation managed to get some of these essential supplies delivered by housekeeping staff. While having our first shower we found out that hot water was coming out from both taps and had to call the plumber to fix it, problem could not be fixed during the entire trip and we ended up having scalding hot baths. Plumbing issues continued in the wc the hygiene spray did not have any pressure to do the business, and as we are against toilet roll and it’s environmental impact this was a huge problem for us (issue could not be fixed during our stay. After a 32 hour flight from Calcutta, India we had no desire to go through fixing our room. We used the gym and pool on the second floor and again the pool was unsupervised and the deck area had the same slippery tiles as in the bathroom area in our rooms and i ended up in a pain full fall slipping on it and hurting my knee. On the good side the staff were exceptionally polite and helpful and provide us a room though we arrived at 1pm and their checkin time is 2pm the food at the only restaurant coffee shop was expensive but of exceptional quality and taste, though again the service was irritatingly slow. For a deluxe hotel from a global brand this was not the experience we were expecting particularly in morocco with a reputation for legendary hospitality. We do understand that the hospitality industry is coming out of a very difficult 2 years after suffering huge losses of business due to the pandemic but that should be no excuse for poor maintenance and cutting corners. I wish the owners and management will take note and return the hotel to its former glory.
