Noisy and claustrophobic rooms

The room we were given was on the ground floor, and the only window was next to a main road. The room was fairly small and hot even in april, and so we had to keep the window open to let some air in. However, keeping the window open meant we could hear traffic noises from the window all night long, and could not sleep at all. They had no fans available in the hotel nor did they have any alternative room available.
