We stayed in Tanoa Plaza for 4 nights (3rd - 6th Apr’2018) but had an ugly experience in terms of conversation with Hotel Staff. The Person called ‘Joseph’ calls himself a hotel manager with so much pride but he doesn’t have adequate to manage conversations politely with their guests. He is very arrogant and highly over confident in his advices to guests about anything around the hotel. He forced us to eat inside the hotel whereas hotel food was much expensive than what was available in nearby city centre food corners. Neither any attractive vegetarian options were available in the hotel food menu. He also showed his extreme mercy on us while we requested to exchange foreign currency at the night time when it was not feasible for us to go outside in market. Despite of the fact that he only advised us that it is unsafe to go out in dark. His tone was very rude as if he is doing a big favour on us for exchanging money and we had to accept a low rate without having any other option at that night time . . Even he was scolding the female staff available with him on front desk on every small thing that looked so odd to us as an audience standing there. He has a great attitude of his position and seems he misuses that quite a number of times while behaving rudely with guests and his own colleagues . All other staff including the breakfast chef, housekeeping, and all female staff on front desk was quite supportive but the whole experience got ruined just because of that Male manager- Joseph. Regarding hotel rooms- its quite over rated on all sites. I had read lot of reviews before booking this stay but to my own experience, hotel room was just Okay and not more than 2. 5 or 3 star service. The bathroom was not very clean even washbasin was in poor (almost broken) and dirty condition. The safebox provided inside wardrobe was broken (though they changed it upon complaining) . This is provided for guests to keep their important stuff locked and hence such important things must be checked carefully before accepting check-in to avoid any inconvenience to guests. All other basic in room facilities, like ironing, water, coffee maker, room decor, cleaning etc were just average. Nothing like we can expect from such a highly rated hotel in Suva, Fiji. Besides all this a female staff called ‘Valerie deserves a special appreciation for all her support and nice gestures she shown while connecting me to the local numbers from the front desk phone whenever required, she was extremely polite and Joseph must learn verbal from his female staff.
