We stayed two nights at Sakura Terrace The Gallery and it was almost perfect.
The location is very convenient. It is just a two to three minute walk from Kyoto Station, and there is a 7-Eleven next to the hotel, which makes it easy to grab anything you need from day to midnight.
The hotel has a very positive vibe. The reception and lobby have an open setup, and there is a tea and coffee section where guests can help themselves on arrival or departure. They are very punctual about check-in and only allow it at 2 pm as per their policy.
The rooms are spacious, much larger compared to other hotels we stayed at in different cities. Each room has a balcony with a refreshing view. The bed is soft and comfortable, and the bathroom is big with a bathtub and shower.
The restaurant is located on the ground floor. Breakfast offers a wide spread of breads, croissants, pastries, and donuts. There is a dedicated Japanese food section along with a variety of smoothies and juices. In the evening, each guest is offered one free drink, with a good selection of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options. This really adds value after a long, hot day of exploring Kyoto.
The hotel also offers excellent amenities. Guests can use the laundry service free of charge, with washing and drying machines available at no cost. Detergent can be purchased at the hotel, or you can bring your own. Massage chairs are available in the lounge areas for use at any time of the day, and they are perfect for relaxing after walking thousands of steps.
The only reason I said it was almost perfect and not completely perfect is because of the water service and housekeeping. Water is not provided in the rooms, so you need to bring your own bottles to the lounge areas to fill up or drink when needed.
I highly recommend this hotel to anyone planning a stay in Kyoto for work, leisure, or fun. The location and atmosphere are simply too good to miss.
