The domestic service by this airline was launched on 1 May 1963 and it began transatlantic services on 1 April 1969 with a Vienna via Brussels to New York service in co-operation with Sabena. The first Jet Airliner, “Sud Aviation Caravelle” was ordered by Austrian Airlines on 18 February 1963 and this Jet Airliner started to operate from 1973.
