The most disappointing experience ever.
We reached the hotel late at night and found out that the ground floor has a club with extremely loud music. The hotel smells badly of cigarette smoke and when we reached are our room the smell of smoke was even worse. We could not even stay at the hotel for 5 mins and decided to leave. The cherry on the top was that the hotel charged me for one night stay even though the standard of hygiene and ambience was at the lowest levels ever experienced. I complained to MMT within 10 mins of walking out of the hotel but they also didn’t support me on a full refund instead they supported the hotel which they have vetted and just refunded the amount foe 2 nights against booking of 3 nights. It’s a blatant misuse of position and in all this only the customer is one who suffers. No way making any further bookings via MMT.

Beautiful hotel in the heart of the city
This hotel is a heritage property, very beautifully renovated and well maintained. Rooms are big and very cosy. Food is awesome. Staff very helpful and courteous.

Poor Stay
The building and rooms are extremely old, and unfortunately there was no proper ventilation or windows. The entire room felt damp, and there was a strong fungus/mold smell coming from the furniture and mattress. It was very suffocating and uncomfortable to sleep in. While I understand the building is old, at the very least there should have been some ventilation or steps taken to reduce moisture and dampness. This seriously affected the overall stay experience.

Excellent Stay
The property is really old, but well maintained and gives you a vintage feeling. Nice location, good staff, beautiful property but no lift. Food is good too. Deck 88 restaurant is a good one.

Heritage feel in the city
Well located, heritage feel to the hotel. Room was very spacious and the complimentary minibar was a pleasant surprise. Lack of elevator means not suitable for everyone but ok if traveling with light luggage etc.

Feedback on My Recent Stay at Hotel Astor, Kolkata
The room quality and cleanliness were good, and I appreciate the effort put into maintaining hygiene. However, I noticed several gaps in the overall experience, especially considering that the room tariff is comparable to that of a five-star property. Essential amenities such as room slippers, a shaving kit, and sufficient tea bags were missing. Additionally, despite booking for single occupancy, the room was provided with two separate beds, which was inconvenient. I hope these points will be taken into consideration to enhance the guest experience in the future.

Excellent Stay
Stay - the building is aesthetic. The rooms are clean and well-maintained. Staff - Friendly and helpful staff Food - Breakfast buffet was similar to what you would expect at this price range. Overall, I would recommend this place to anyone who can afford it. It's a bit pricey but the experience is well worth the premium.

A comfortable stay but there is always a scope of improvement.
"I recently stayed at this hotel and had a calm and comfortable experience overall. The location is incredibly convenient, with cabs readily available outside and the railway station nearby, which is a definite plus. This proximity makes it an ideal choice for travelers, especially those who prefer not to hassle with traffic or long commutes. The staff were extremely well-mannered and respectful towards customers, which added significantly to the pleasant stay. Their friendly demeanor and willingness to help made a big difference. The rooms were in good condition, impressively clean (scoring 9/10 in cleanliness), and the bathrooms were nice and well-maintained. However, I noticed that some amenities mentioned in the description were not available, such as a hair dryer and iron. Given the time constraint, I didn't request them, but it would have been appreciated if they were provided as promised. The breakfast menu could also be improved in terms of taste and variety. While the staff were attentive, the food didn't quite meet my expectations. Despite these minor shortcomings, the hotel's strengths lie in its friendly staff, comfortable rooms, and convenient location. Poor Stay
I booked a deluxe room for one night from 18Sep to 19Sep. I was offered a room in the first floor which was the smoking floor for smoking guests without even checking with me if I would be comfortable in the smoking room. As I went inside the room it was all smell and I straight away said there is a terrible smell inside the room to which the staff told me it was the room freshener. I resisted that I cannot stay in this room to which after lot to resistance they offered me another room which had two single bed. I didn’t had any other option but to accept. I would not recommend this hotel because of the way they treated me. Also someone from the hotel called me a day before to check with me my arrival time to which i confirmed that I said i will be there at 12 noon and he confirmed that the room would be ready by then but they made me wait until 1 pm that also after lot of push they gave me the room key with smell all over.

Astor is Aristocratic
Awesome colonial experience. When you take the flight of stairs, the wooden planks sounds will give you goosebumps. Room was excellent Food was great. We loved the Gandharaj chilled lemon cheese cake.
