Hotel hippodrome is very conveniently placed so one can do most of the touristy places by walking. The staff was very courteous and the breakfast buffet was good. The view from the breakfast area is beautiful overlooking the sea. The manager also upgraded us into a family suite room. The only drawback we faced was there was no lift and our room was on the 2nd floor so taking the luggage was a problem.

The location of the hotel is right there in the midst of all the action in sultanhamet. The guys at the reception are very helpful and cordially. However please note that there is no drinking water provided

The Hippodrome is a simple hotel, ie don´t expect five star luxury. Yet my room was adequately furnished, clean and comfortable There was a flat screen TV, albeit mostly with Turkish-language channels. The air conditioned room also had a minibar/fridge, electric tea kettle, safe, dry blower, hot and cold water. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. The hotel has no restaurants, but that is not a negative point at all, as the immediate neighborhood is brimming with atmospheric, cozy and very moderately priced small taverns, cafes, pubs. The breakfast buffet was served on the roof terrace of the nearby Azade Hotel. It is just down the road, less than a 1-minute walk and has the same ownership as the Hippodrome Hotel. The roof terrace has a glassed-in and an open-air section. If you´re sitting outside, beware the sea gulls! They swept down and cleaned my plate within the few seconds I went inside to get a cup of coffee! The hotel´s greatest asset is its fantastic location. It is literally in easy walking distance to all main attraction: Blue Moque (4 minutes), Ayasofya and Topkapi Palace (6 minutes), Divan Yolu Rd. (5 minutes), Mosaic Museum and Arrasta Bazaar (3 minutes), etc. I can recommend the Hippodrome Hotel without any reservations.
