Wangdue Ecolodge

Stayed at Wangdue Lodge, Wangdue, Bhutan during my recent trip to Bhutan. Location: Marvellous. views from room: awesome view of nature...and the Wangdue Fort. Food: Excellent. The property owner chooses what to serve you, and for once his choice is excellent. They take personal care to prepare food exactly as per you/ your family's choice. All cooked from vegetables/ herbs, etc sourced from their own garden. Luckily there is no TV in room...wifi is there. The owner and family are hoteliers with deep experience in Marquee Taj properties My son bonded with their kid ( the same age) and spent the better part of the day with him... A pair of cats kept company with my daughter. Rooms are super large with touch of class and understated luxury typical of an eco-friendly resort. Round the clock hot water, super clean rooms, additional 2 beds in same room, and a balcony that can put even 7-star hotels Anyone planning to stay in Punakha must opt for this super-travller friendly property....home to many foreigners and Indians. For the cons: the approach road to the property....however the owner can't do much about it. Would love to go back to Wangdue again and stay here. Cheers

Property location is not good, the road to property is a little scary. You have to do an off roading of 1.5 km to reach the property. Further when you reach you will realize you are totally dependent for food on the property as it is not possible to go out. The property offers no menu, it is a basic homely food which the property manager will provide but will charge you hefty per person. The sliding door in bathroom does not have a knob so anyone from outside can open it. Further wrong information provided on make my trip, there is no bath tub in the bathroom. Only best part is the view, otherwise not worth so much money spent.

Location is excellent. The access road appears to be scary initially. Great staff. Lacks Indian food, and no options nearby. The view is superb. Good to go on a small walk in the mornings.

The hotel does not have an in-house restaurant, and there are no nearby markets or eateries. However, it does offer a limited and fixed menu which may not align with everyone preference. Breakfast is basic, typically consisting of bread and pancakes, with limited variety.Overall, there could be struggle in getting food of own choice. While the amenities are minimal, the true highlight of this stay is its serene mountain setting. Surrounded by natural beauty and tranquility, it’s a perfect getaway for travelers looking to disconnect and enjoy nature.

Location very good for people who love nature; very peaceful. The approach road needs to be improved. Food was adequate, simple home-style cooking. Amenities were adequate; room lighting can be improved. Services - good; friendly staff

Location is high on the hill with a view of the fortress (back of the fortress. One can also see villages below and above. A stream flows nearby. Overall very peaceful and in sync with nature. So is the manager kalzang. Use of organic vegetables for food prep. Menu is pre-decided every morning basis local ingredients that are available that day. Very polite staff and prompt services.

Location is mind-blowing with a view of the Wangdue dzong, food is made from fresh homegrown vegetables, absolutely amazing.

Expensive food. Rooms. Are excellent with good view

In continuation with previous, staff was courageous.
House keeping was not done in 1 of the 2 rooms. Service was poor. Room was very good. Bath room was also very comfortable.

The ambiance was good enjoyed the peace and the awesome view.
