In the center and cheap

Budget Hotel Fron in the center of Reykjavik. Best location at the pedestrian zone. Disadvantage: If a tour was booked, however, you can not be picked up directly at the Hotel Fron. Lots of shops, restaurants and generally very expensive Hotel Frons close by. Five minute walk to and the harbor. At the weekend it was loud on the street. In the disco next door was celebrated. At the front desk was spoken English. You could also book excursions (much more expensive than on the internet). After the check out there was a free storage for the suitcases. Overall a good service. There is an elevator to get to the upper floors. On the floor a computer terminal with internet connection (free, but without printer). The equipment in the room is a bit old, but in good condition. The sleeping comfort (two single beds) was okay. A large closet. No water heater in the room. But a mini bar (not free). The water in the bathroom (shower, washbasin) is not filtered. It smells like rotten eggs (as usual with the thermal water in Reykjavik). Clean towels, soap (piece) and shampoo available. No panoramic view from the room. The view goes on the barren street or back to the parking lot. There was good heating and air conditioning. Both worked perfectly. Breakfast in the otherwise expensive pub / restaurant on the ground floor with a view to the street. Small selection with simple food and drinks, but it was always refilled. We could also take the sandwiches for the tour. For the money paid nevertheless very good.

Hotel is situated at the center of Reykjavik. Room was really nice and the breakfast excellent. The only drawback is they did not have there own parking space so we had to park our car somewhere else and then bring our luggage to the Hotel Fron. But I guess this is same for most of the Hotel Frons in Reykjavik.
