The property was in a central part of the town with ample shops and restaurants in easy walking distance. Be aware, though, reception is only manned between 2pm and 4pm. As I arrived just after 5pm it took me close to 25 minutes to find someone to check me in. I was only able to gain entry into the complex by another guest letting me in.

We stayed in room 1207. It was very, musty and damp smelling. The shower leaked onto the bathroom floor and as it costs $20 to replace towels they were wet for our stay unless you wanted to do washing. The kitchen amenities were extremely basic and the TV postion is not viewable from bed..... something that is nice when having a Nana nap on holidays. The outdoor spa wasn't clean. There was 2 cheap broken hair dryers in the bathroom and with so much water on the floor it didn't feel safe to use them so I used them in the lounge room. Comfy bed and pillows, however additional pillows in the wardrobe didn't have pillow slips on them. The location was great to access Macrossan St, but, quite a treck to the carpark. All in all. We loved Port Douglas, however, were quite disappointed with the accommodation for the money. It was basic, not very clean and stunk of moisture/ mould. We wouldn't definitely stay somewhere else next time for the money.

The only bright spot about the Mantra Heritage is the location, central to the main town. The biggest gripe I have is that this hotel does not service the rooms unless you have stayed 8 days, I think that is disgusting and explains why everything looks dirty and tired. You do not know about this until after you check in, and receive their instruction sheet. They need to really look at their model of business because it is really poor for a customer service operation. The Mantra Heritage is a disgrace to the ALL group, which I belong to. I will not book another Mantra. We're booked for 3 nights but left a day early even though we get no refund. This place is a very poor option for travellers that want somewhere central in Port Douglas. Having read the reviews I find that the hotel has for years said they use reviews to improve the guest experience, yet the same problems continue to pop up and nothing seems to be done. The room was filthy, I have taken pictures of the mould in the bathroom. The floor was sticky and dirty, and we were just horrified. The staff we saw did not want to know and avoided contact. I just cannot find anything positive to say about this hotel.

the room was great. If you are located in a room in building two it's best to bring your bags in via Macrossan st or you have to carry them up 20+ steps to reach the first lift
