Granbell Hotel Colombo

This hotel had the worst service I have ever experienced. We reached after a long journey and nobody helped with our bags. Nobody showed us to the reception, which hilariously isn’t on the ground floor. We had to figure it all out by ourselves. We somehow made it to the reception with our bags. I had booked 2 rooms for 4 of us. Because of issues with our flights, 2 of us reached at 3pm and the rest were going to reach at 9pm. The man at the reception said since there are only 2 of you, I’ll give you 1 room. I said I wanted both since my father and I wanted our own space. He looked at me like I was crazy for wanting the rooms I had already paid for. He then said only one is ready, which made no because check in time is 2pm and it was about 3:30. After insisting he give me both rooms, he said the other will take 10 minutes and he’ll send the key to the room. I went and waited in my room for 30 minutes but nobody came so I went back to the reception and then he said “actually I can’t give you both rooms because I need the passports of all 4 people” Which was hilarious because why do you need passports for the people who aren’t here yet? I was visibly upset and their manager saw that and asked him to give me the key. He only gave 1 key for each room and when the rest of my family checked in, we asked for 2 more, he made faces and reluctantly gave us the keys. I have never met anybody in the hospitality industry who was this rude and disrespectful. This was the first hotel on my Sri Lanka trip and I also spent my birthday here. Had the worst experience. Please spend your money in a place where they have some semblance of customer service.

The stay at Granbell was one which was relaxing, comfortable and luxurious. It truly felt like a home away from home. A holiday to remember indeed in the heart of Colombo. The Buffet Breakfast had a wide variety of items, the rooms had all the modern amenities, the view of the ocean was breathtaking and the infinity pool was simply amazing.

Excellent stay. Food was way too good with lot of exciting options. Opp to beach and a fantastic view. You should try the infinity pool which has a never ending sea view

Very good room, great views, comfortable stay, great shower, great staff! The highlight is the property with amazing view of the trains running parallel to the sea.

A lovely place with a beautiful view of the ocean. Room amenities too are modern and the hygiene and cleanliness very good. Restaurants offer a wide variety of food options. All in all a wonderful getaway.

Excellent location and lovely rooftop Bar and infinity swimming pool. The breakfast spread was very extensive. Highly recommend.

Nice room and hotel, service needs improvement, one has to call several times to get an answer on the reception and kitchen numbers.

Overall experience was good. The hotel is just beside the sea and railway track. Never stayed in a hotel with such a good ocean view. One can just relax in the bath tub(room) or pool in the 27th and enjoy. They have a multiple option’s for breakfast. Highly recommend.

Very professionally run,the view from the pool is breathtaking .the rooms are super cozy and clean and the sea view from a higher floor room looks like your sailing on a cruise ship .

Property is located on marine drive colombo. The room was spacious. Their elevators are very slow. Expect 5 min waiting time. They stopped working in between our visit and had to take stairs. Breakfast options are good but venue is very congested

From the moment I walked into the elegant lobby, the staff demonstrated exceptional professionalism and warmth that set the tone for my entire visit. The room was immaculately clean and thoughtfully appointed with modern amenities that made my stay comfortable and convenient. The bed was incredibly comfortable with high-quality linens, ensuring restful nights throughout my visit. The bathroom featured premium toiletries and excellent water pressure, while the well-stocked minibar and complimentary Wi-Fi added valuable convenience. The hotel's amenities truly impressed me. The fitness center was well-equipped with modern machines and stayed open 24/7, perfect for maintaining my workout routine. The rooftop pool offered stunning city views and provided a relaxing escape after busy days. The on-site restaurant served exceptional cuisine with attentive service, and room service was prompt and delicious. The concierge team went above and beyond, providing excellent local recommendations and helping arrange transportation. Housekeeping maintained the room to perfection daily, and the front desk staff were always available to address any questions or requests with genuine enthusiasm. My only minor complaint involves the elevator system. During peak hours, particularly in the mornings and early evenings, wait times became somewhat lengthy. The lifts seemed to move slower than expected for a hotel of this caliber, occasionally causing slight delays when heading to meetings or dinner reservations. Despite this small inconvenience, I would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a premium stay. The outstanding service, excellent amenities, and attention to detail far outweigh any minor issues. I'm already planning my return visit and would gladly stay here again.
